I showed FC Bobs Babe von Knobydox ''Babe'' in the NATC conformation show and scored a very good! And also FC Audi Oslo von Dorndorf CGC '' Oslo'' scored a excellent! A very exciting day for both Daddy and I!

In Roscoe, IL during the NATC week Gretel and Nadja both certified for there gameness test! To certify they both had to find rats through a under ground den. Then the dogs had to dig and bark at the rats for a minute.

On Friday we were still having very warm weather so I decided that it was time for the babies to have a swimming lesson. I had no idea what 5 week old puppies would do in the water. Daniel and I stood in the pool and we put one at a time in the water. All three just started to paddle as soon as they were in the water. I can't say that they are great swimmers yet. Their little noses tended to ride a little too low in the water.

Remember this photo from a few day ago? Fiona was exploring the deep grass on Wednesday and tasted a toad. She came out foaming at the mouth, snorting, and shaking her head. I washed her mouth out and after a couple of hours she was just fine. All of our dogs have had to learn that toads are not fair game, just never had one learn it so early!

The little rascals are getting hard to photograph. Think about how it would be to try to get a portrait of say, popping corn. They are busy, busy, for about 30 minutes at a time now.

Suddenly "outside" is great. Yesterday they would just huddle up and whimper. Of course they only tended to be awake for 10 minutes or so at a time. Today I put them outside for a minute and the little rascals promptly scooched under the deck. Nadja could not follow so she just kept snorting under the edge and they tottered back out. I think she was bribing them with an offer of milk.

I relocated them away from the deck and they dived into the flower beds. From their perspective I am sure it was a deep dark jungle. They loved it.

Yesterday morning Grammy Sherry decided that she needed to step up and show Nadja how to properly raise puppies.

Nadja is a very patient little Mommy. She allows her little ones to feed freely. She cleans them carefully. Never has a harsh word for her little angels.

Sherry?, not so much.

She climbed into their nest and grumped at them every time she thought they needed it. After a few minutes she moved on.

I think she enjoys the puppies, even if she would never admit it.

The fat little darlin's are thriving. Hooptie is not going to be a real black and tan. I guess that just makes it easier to let her go. :)

Hooptie is the first to have eyes open, day 13. Fiona was the first to hoist herself onto all four feet, she staggered a step to the milk bar and collapsed. Her eyes are open today on day 14. Yesterday I think she responded to the scent of her mother approaching. Hooptie has also staggered a bit on all fours. Sonic absolutely is the queen of milk consumption. She will have to have really strong legs to lift her porky little body.

Yesterday was a very interesting day, the first time I have ever helped birth puppies in a car going down the road. At 7:30 a.m. Monday, August 31, 2009 Nadja started her first contraction. She was having contractions for an hour and Mom said it has been a long time without babies coming. So we put Nadja and the whelping box in the van with Daddy's driving, me and Anna making sure Nadja didn't slide and Mom in the back watching her like a hawk. At 8:30 a.m. the first one was born in front of the Sonic in town, so we nicknamed her Sonic. She weighed 13.2 oz. We decided that we should go back home so daddy turned around and coming back home another one popped out. That was the littest one. We nicknamed her Hooptie, since that is what we call our old van. She was 8 oz. So, we get home welping box goes back in the house and about 40 minnutes later Nadja starts contracting again. After 10 to 20 minutes of contracting 12 oz baby Fiona was born. All are healthy and beautiful!!!
